Join Us for an open discussion about the staffing language included in 2023 Legislation.

The essential elements include:

  • Staffing Committee: direct bedside nurses have a majority, on the committee and at voting; nurses are compensated for their time spent on the committee
  • Staffing Plans: include a ratio for all units, review of assignment refusal and nurse concerns about staffing, review of retention, turnover, etc.
  • Retaliation Protection: a nurse can not be fired for speaking up or refusing an assignment
  • Transparency: post nurse staffing plan on each unit, and notify all nurses upon hire and annually about the committee, work, meetings and how to become a member
  • Accountability: DPH oversight, accountability, increased reporting requirements, submission to DPH twice a year, with collection of information and oversight

Connecticut Nurses Association is accredited as an approver of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation
