Address Federal Loan Caps to Ensure Future Nursing Workforce
Federal Loan Caps - Learn More and Take Action!

The Issue: Federal Department of Education opened the public comment period on their proposed rule related to federal loan caps. There are changes to undergraduate and graduate loan programs that impact nurses, APRNs/CRNAs/CNMs, and many other health professionals, not included in the higher loan limits that will impact workforce, future faculty, access to education, and potential for future limits on research and inclusion due to systemic and structural professional classifications.
The DOE has opened the public comment period. ANA will be releasing guidance on comments on 2/19/2026. Public Comments are due by March 2.
